Hillsong UNITED - Aftermath Tour - August 2011 - ::REVIEW::
As I stated in the "What artists have you seen in concert?" thread, I wasn't too sure what was going to happen at that concert. Sure, I knew that United had written and recorded many of my favorite worship songs. I was excited to see them live for that reason alone. However, I'd also spent a little too much time on JFH (Jesus Freak Hideout, for the unfamiliar) reading album reviews, and their general opinion of United is "formulaic" and a "general lack of creativity". Therefore, I went to that concert not knowing what on earth to expect.
I might as well just tell you now: JFH was wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong.
I can't tell you all the songs they did, but I can tell you about a few of my favorites, and provide you links where you can listen to them.
I did take videos...and a multitude of pictures. However, uploading and posting said videos would give away my general location, and I'd rather not do that right now. Because of this, I'm gonna post live versions of the songs posted by other people..or if the song was "live" on the album, I'll post that.
Go - This was the opening song, and it really worked to get the crowd energized and singing along. I'd never heard it before the concert, and now I find it frequently gets stuck in my head!!
Break Free - I don't often dance/jump at concerts, because no one around is ever dancing along with me. However, this song got me (and everyone else around me) moving!! It's a fun and true song.
From the Inside Out - One of the aforementioned favorite worship songs. To hear everyone singing this...T2L'ers, I have no words. It was so powerful!
Aftermath (album version) - (I could not find a good quality live video of this.) Like "Go", I was not familiar with this song. I took the moment to stand back, close my eyes, and listen to the lyrics. I recommend you do the same when you listen to it.
With Everything The end of the song live was exactly the same as on the recording...music fading out to just voices on the "oh" part. Serious goosebumps moment.
Yours Forever - FAVORITE. It got so crazy when they played this one! Everyone was dancing. (And yes, JD did really let out a rocker shriek similar to the one in the video!!)
Take It All - More dancing!!! That is all.
girlofgrace's concert rating (out of 5): 5/5!! (They lose the "+" for not doing "Solution", which is my all time favorite United song!)
In conclusion...if you ever get the chance to see UNITED live, I'm ordering you to GO.
